Website Creation

(Web Templates)

With Google being king of search, I aim to meet the items they test and give feedback for. Here are the main areas of focus.

Performance

How fast a site loads so you can interact with it.

Accessibility

How easily the site is viewable and usable to anyone.

Best Practices

This would be under the hood with structure and coding mostly.

SEO

Adding on page components that helps optimize the site for search engine rankings.

I'm not one into following the fads. To me a website isn’t just about looks, there are many things to look at and consider. One of the biggest things overlooked is site performance. This is something Google cares about otherwise they would not offer tools for testing sites. I can tell you many websites I have tested perform poorly on it.

There is a lot of thought that is put into a website from concept to development. First you need to know your goal for the website. Is it to sell a product or a service. Get your name out there and/or inform people what is going on with your organization?

In general a website is to get information to the people looking for it. So valuable, relevant, and helpful content is essential. Just because you have lots of content doesn’t mean it is good. Concise content can be more valuable with it being right to the point, since people do not really like to read especially when shopping.

A lot of people throw search engine optimization (SEO) around, but nowadays a majority of the factors for SEO are not on page. Good content is what you need along with fresh content, so keeping your website up to date is beneficial for your visitors and search engines.

Another thing that is overlooked is mobile first, which is how Google looks at websites. This doesn’t just mean having a responsive website (site that works on different size devices). It is how your site functions for example are elements you need to touch to navigation too close to each other. Is the text size too small?

Let's work together to make a better Internet with well thought out, high performance websites. Let's get back to the K.I.S.S. thinking. The goal of a website is to give the user the information they are looking for. Contact me to discuss your needs.
