Consulting & Web Development: The K.I.S.S. Method
I spent 17+ years working for an ecommerce company. I handled the IT needs for the company, but most of my time was focused on researching and developing the website and backend database systems. All were custom built in house.
Over the years, I've worked with many API's including Google, Amazon, payment services, shipping carriers, taxing services, and more. I had the opportunity to create a review system for the site that did as well as 3rd party review systems we used. I also took it a step farther and added the ability to automatically send requests for video reviews from customers that rated a product three stars or more. The account area and order status pages I created gave customers real time access to order information from our custom back-end ordering system database.
It's now time to make changes to website development. Perforamce is lacking in many sites now a days. I've spent lots of time researching how to build website while reducing time for the page to load. Google has tools to help check this so it is important. Another thing that needs more attentioned paid to is mobile first. This is something the company I worked for started doing many years ago and finally others are talking about it at least. These are two things I like to see improved in the web world.
I enjoy the challenge of figure out how to make something work. The company I worked for wasn't a typical ecommerce site. It required thinking outside the box for many things especially integrating APIs. I had to learn many different pieces of software, online services, server interfaces, etc. Learning is part of the game.
As a developer, I see my goal is to try to make things easier for someone else to do their job. Work directly with the developer instead of going through a middle person. Contact Me
